Workshop on experimental approaches for the investigation of effector function

Workshop on experimental approaches for the investigation of effector function

The third workshop of the COST Action SUSTAIN, focussing on experimental approaches for the investigation of effector functions, will be held from the 10th to the 12th February 2015 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

About the workshop:

Functional analysis of pathogen effectors is an important theme in the research on plant-pathogen interactions. Effectors are predicted to subvert plant physiology to the benefit of the pathogen by interfering with plant immunity and releasing nutrients. However, biochemical and molecular details of mode of action are known only for a limited number of effectors. The objective of the workshop is to discuss advanced approaches for the investigation of biochemical and molecular properties of effectors and elucidation of their function and targets. Main approaches that will be discussed are:

 -  Protein-protein interaction analysis
 -  PTI/ETI suppression by pathogen effectors
 -  Identification of non-immunity related virulence targets
 -  Innovative strategies to identify effector functions and targets

The workshop is organized by Dr. Guido Sessa of the Department of Molecular Biology and Ecology of Plants at Tel Aviv University, Israel and Dr. Boris Szurek of the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement, France and will welcome around 30 participants.

How to participate:

The call for abstracts for this workshop will be open until 26th September 2014. All those wishing to apply will be required to complete an online form and submit a 250-word abstract.

All applications will then go through a selection process and successful applicants will be made aware of the jury's decision by October 2014. Since the places for the meeting are limited we want to emphasize that the on-line form is an application for registration. Completing the form does NOT mean that you are allocated a place at the meeting. Please do not make any travel bookings until you have received confirmation that your application to attend the meeting has been approved.

Successful applicants will be eligible for expenses reimbursement from the SUSTAIN COST grant. Travel, accommodation and subsistence costs will all be reimbursed, in line with the COST Travel Reimbursement Rules. All receipts/bills must be sent for processing as soon as possible and no later than 30 days after the end of the conference. After this deadline it will no longer be possible to submit an expenses reimbursement claim.
